LITERACY MATTERS

As a writer, I understand the incredible power of words and the joy they can bring in their written form.

When choosing a charity to support, I considered what my life would be like without literacy.

There are many Australian children who do not get the same opportunities as others to develop a love of reading.

Part of my mission is to change that, by donating some of my profits to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

SPREAD THE WORDS

In very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are so much lower than anywhere else in Australia.

The purpose of the ILF is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books – with a focus on early literacy and first language – but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.

When you work with me as your copywriter, part of the fees you pay are donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This organisation works in over 280 remote communities around Australia, supplying books, encouraging reading and helping to close the literacy gap.
