Want to know more about different dance styles in Cranbourne?
When your child becomes interested in the world of dance, there are a range of different styles they can try. From ballet to hip hop and everything in between, there are so many ways to learn self-expression through movement.
The following are some of the dance styles we offer at Reflections Academy of Dance.
Cranbourne Different Dance Styles
For Preschoolers
Early childhood is the ideal time to introduce your child to dance. Watch as they learn the basics, come to understand self-discipline and get to know new friends.
Ready Set Dance
This energetic program incorporates jazz, tap, hip hop, music and singing. Suitable for tiny dancers, the focus is on fun.
Ready Set Ballet
Two to five year olds love the opportunity to twirl, spin and discover the beautiful world of ballet with this program, created just for them.
For School-aged dancers
We offer a range of different dance styles from children aged five and over at our Cranbourne studio.
Ballet
Ballet is a world of beauty, wonder, creativity and physical control. Students gain an appreciation and understanding of music and the French language while working to improve their abilities in class.
Performances are a highlight, allowing children to dress up and step out on stage.
Ballet students at our Cranbourne dance school also have the opportunity to follow the Cecchetti exam curriculum, plus older students can progress to dancing on pointe.
Jazz
High energy and fun, jazz is a popular dance style and is an important foundation for children considering a career in dance.
Reflections Academy of Dance in Cranbourne offers jazz classes to children between the ages of 5 and 17. Students of this dance style have the opportunity to compete in groups or as individuals.
Tap
Traditional, musical and a little bit cheeky, tap is highly appealing for all age groups.
Children learn to concentrate and focus as they train their feet to move to the beat!
Contemporary
Sitting between ballet and jazz, the contemporary dance style presents fluid, graceful movements and often includes creative storylines.
Good technique and control is an important element of contemporary dance and children build these skills as they grow.
Hip hop
Gaining popularity since the 1980s, hip hop consists of dynamic, powerful moves set to modern and ‘old school’ dance tracks.
Hip hop is an essential skill for dancers who want to diversify their abilities and for those who want to look fantastic on the dance floor. What’s more, it’s a lot of fun!
Acro
Acro dancers combine dance with tumbling, flipping and other circus-style moves.
As part of our curriculum of Cranbourne different dance styles, students learn the skills to execute acrobatic tricks correctly while building strength and stamina.
Lyrical
Lyrical is perfect for children who find ballet too restrictive and jazz too ‘punchy’. We also recommend it as an extra class for kids who simply can’t get enough of their time in the studio.
Musical Theatre
If your son or daughter can’t get enough of the spotlight, enrol them for musical theatre lessons.
These bring together acting, singing and dance, teaching student show-tune favourites and modern musical hits.
